Selfish Richard Conway

A Short Story
by Harvey Wells

Richard Conway looked at the tattered gun in his hands and felt grumpy.

He walked over to the window and reflected on his busy surroundings. He had always loved good business Inville with its gifted, gigantic gun factories. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel grumpy.

Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Alex Hightower. Alex was a good with guns monster with tall hands and red feet.

Richard gulped. He glanced at his own reflection. He was a selfish, courageous, hot chocolate drinker with wide hands and greasy feet. His friends saw him as a new, nosy ninja. Once, he had even helped a funkelplopping baby cross the road.

But not even a selfish person who had once helped a funkelplopping baby cross the road, was prepared for what Alex had in store today.

The wind blew like sprinting dogs, making Richard bored.

As Richard stepped outside and Alex came closer, he could see the cautious smile on his face.

"I am here because I want revenge," Alex bellowed, in a thoughtful tone. He slammed his fist against Richard's chest, with the force of 549 rats. "I frigging hate you, Richard Conway."

Richard looked back, even more bored and still fingering the tattered gun. "Alex, I will kill you eventually," he replied.

They looked at each other with angry feelings, like two charming, chilly cats running at a very strong robbery, which had rock music playing in the background and two stealthy uncles jogging to the beat.

Suddenly, Alex lunged forward and tried to punch Richard in the face. Quickly, Richard grabbed the tattered gun and brought it down on Alex's skull.

Alex's tall hands trembled and his red feet wobbled. He looked violent, his body raw like a gigantic, gorgeous grapple hook.

Then he let out an agonising groan and collapsed onto the ground. Moments later Alex Hightower was dead.

Richard Conway went back inside and made himself a nice mug of hot chocolate.
