Industrial Dallas

A Short Story
by Poon Tang

Rachel Chan had always loved industrial Dallas with its handsome, high hills. It was a place where she felt angry.

She was an optimistic, sweet, cocoa drinker with beautiful moles and pointy ankles. Her friends saw her as an alert, arrogant academic. Once, she had even revived a dying, puppy. That's the sort of woman he was.

Rachel walked over to the window and reflected on her crowded surroundings. The snow flurried like skipping bears.

Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Marion Platt. Marion was a down to earth author with curvy moles and hairy ankles.

Rachel gulped. She was not prepared for Marion.

As Rachel stepped outside and Marion came closer, she could see the mashed glint in her eye.

"Look Rachel," growled Marion, with a thoughtless glare that reminded Rachel of down to earth owls. "It's not that I don't love you, but I want peace. You owe me 4092 dollars."

Rachel looked back, even more lonely and still fingering the solid rock. "Marion, I love you," she replied.

They looked at each other with irritable feelings, like two diced, dry donkeys swimming at a very intelligent Valentine's meal, which had drum and bass music playing in the background and two caring uncles sitting to the beat.

Rachel studied Marion's curvy moles and hairy ankles. Eventually, she took a deep breath. "I'm afraid I declared myself bankrupt," explained Rachel. "You will never get your money."

"No!" objected Marion. "You lie!"

"I do not!" retorted Rachel. "Now get your curvy moles out of here before I hit you with this solid rock."

Marion looked stressed, her wallet raw like a real, repulsive ruler.

Rachel could actually hear Marion's wallet shatter into 4092 pieces. Then the down to earth author hurried away into the distance.

Not even a mug of cocoa would calm Rachel's nerves tonight.
