INT. A LIBARY - AFTERNOON

Funny Lost Girl MISS AVA HEART is arguing with cute king of Neverland MISTER PETER PAN. AVA tries to hug PETER but he shakes her off.

AVA
Please Peter, don't leave me.

PETER
I'm sorry Ava, but I'm looking for somebody a bit more brave. Somebody who faces her fears head on, instead of running away.

AVA
I am such a person!

PETER frowns.

PETER
I'm sorry, Ava. I just don't feel excited by this relationship anymore.

PETER leaves.

AVA sits down, looking defeated.

Moments later, smart princess MISS FENNE WHITE barges in looking flustered.

AVA
Goodness, Fenne! Is everything okay?

FENNE
I'm afraid not.

AVA
What is it? Don't keep me in suspense...

FENNE
It's ... a witch ... I saw an evil witch kill a bunch of villagers!

AVA
Defenseless villagers?

FENNE
Yes, defenseless villagers!

AVA
Bloomin' heck, Fenne! We've got to do something.

FENNE
I agree, but I wouldn't know where to start.

AVA
You can start by telling me where this happened.

FENNE

FENNE fans herself and begins to wheeze.

AVA
Focus Fenne, focus! Where did it happen?

FENNE
Neverland! That's right - Neverland!

AVA springs up and begins to run.

EXT. A ROAD - CONTINUOUS

AVA rushes along the street, followed by FENNE. They take a short cut through some back gardens, jumping fences along the way.

INT. NEVERLAND - SHORTLY AFTER

REGINA MILLS an evil witch terrorises two villagers.

AVA, closely followed by FENNE, rushes towards REGINA, but suddenly stops in her tracks.

FENNE
What is is? What's the matter?

AVA
That's not just any old witch, that's Regina Mills!

FENNE
Who's Regina Mills?

AVA
Who's Regina Mills? Who's Regina Mills? Only the most evil witch in the universe!

FENNE
Blinkin' knickers, Ava! We're going to need some help if we're going to stop the most evil witch in the universe!

AVA
You can say that again.

FENNE
Blinkin' knickers, Ava! We're going to need some help if we're going to stop the most evil witch in the universe!

AVA
I'm going to need light magic, lots of light magic.

Regina turns and sees Ava and Fenne. She grins an evil grin.

REGINA
Ava Heart, we meet again.

FENNE
You've met?

AVA
Yes. It was a long, long time ago...

EXT. A PARK - BACK IN TIME

A young AVA is sitting in a park listening to some metal music, when suddenly a dark shadow casts over her.

She looks up and sees REGINA. She takes off her headphones.

REGINA
Would you like some chocolate?

AVA's eyes light up, but then he studies REGINA more closely, and looks uneasy.

AVA
I don't know, you look kind of evil.

REGINA
Me? No. I'm not evil. I'm the least evil witch in the world.

AVA
Wait, you're a witch?

AVA runs away, screaming.

INT. NEVERLAND - PRESENT DAY

REGINA
You were a coward then, and you are a coward now.

FENNE
(To AVA) You ran away?

AVA
(To FENNE) I was a young child. What was I supposed to do?

AVA turns to REGINA.

AVA
I may have run away from you then, but I won't run away this time!

AVA runs away.

She turns back and shouts.

AVA
I mean, I am running away, but I'll be back - with light magic.

REGINA
I'm not scared of you.

AVA
You should be.

EXT. OZ - LATER THAT DAY

AVA and FENNE walk around searching for something.

AVA
I feel sure I left my light magic somewhere around here.

FENNE
Are you sure? It does seem like an odd place to keep deadly light magic.

AVA
You know nothing Fenne White.

FENNE
We've been searching for ages. I really don't think they're here.

Suddenly, REGINA appears, holding a pair of light magic.

REGINA
Looking for something?

FENNE
Crikey, Ava, she's got your light magic.

AVA
Tell me something I don't already know!

FENNE
The earth's circumference at the equator is about 40,075 km.

AVA
I know that already!

FENNE
I've kissed Felix.

REGINA
(appalled) Dude!

While REGINA is looking at FENNE with disgust, AVA lunges forward and grabs her deadly light magic. He wields them, triumphantly.

AVA
Prepare to die, you evil potato!

REGINA
No please! All I did was kill a bunch of villagers!

PETER enters, unseen by any of the others.

AVA
I cannot tolerate that kind of behaviour! Those villagers were defenceless! Well now they have a defender - and that's me! Ava Heart defender of innocent villagers.

REGINA
Don't hurt me! Please!

AVA
Give me one good reason why I shouldn't use these light magic on you right away!

REGINA
Because Ava, I am your mother.

AVA looks stunned for a few moments, but then collects herself.

AVA
No you're not!

REGINA
Ah well, it had to be worth a try.

REGINA tries to grab the light magic but AVA dodges out of the way.

AVA
Who's the mummy now? Huh? Huh?

Unexpectedly, REGINA slumps to the ground.

FENNE
Did she just faint?

AVA
I think so. Well that's disappointing. I was rather hoping for a more dramatic conclusion, involving my deadly light magic.

AVA crouches over REGINA's body.

FENNE
Be careful, Ava. It could be a trick.

AVA
No, it's not a trick. It appears that... It would seem... Regina Mills is dead!

AVA
What?

AVA
Yes, it appears that I scared her to death.

FENNE claps her hands.

FENNE
So your light magic did save the day, after all.

PETER steps forward.

PETER
Is it true? Did you kill the evil witch?

AVA
Peter how long have you been...?

PETER puts his arm around AVA.

PETER
Long enough.

AVA
Then you saw it for yourself. I killed Regina Mills.

PETER
Then the villagers are safe?

AVA
It does seem that way!

A crowd of vulnerable villagers enter, looking relived.

PETER
You are their hero.

The villagers bow to AVA.

AVA
There is no need to bow to me. I seek no worship. The knowledge that Regina Mills will never kill villagers ever again, is enough for me.

PETER
You are humble as well as brave!

One of the villagers passes AVA a magical necklace

PETER
I think they want you to have it, as a symbol of their gratitude.

AVA
I couldn't possibly.

Pause.

AVA
Well, if you insist.

AVA takes the necklace.

AVA
Thank you.

The villagers bow their heads once more, and leave.

AVA turns to PETER.

AVA
Does this mean you want me back?

PETER
Oh, Ava, of course I want you back!

AVA smiles for a few seconds, but then looks defiant.

AVA
Well you can't have me.

PETER
WHAT?

AVA
You had no faith in me. You had to see my scare a witch to death before you would believe in me. I don't want a lover like that.

PETER
But...

AVA
Please leave. I want to spend time with the one person who stayed with me through thick and thin - my best friend, Fenne.

FENNE grins.

PETER
But...

FENNE
You heard the lady. Now be off with you. Skidaddle! Shoo!

PETER
Ava?

AVA
I'm sorry Peter, but I think you should skidaddle.

PETER leaves.

FENNE turns to AVA.

FENNE
Did you mean that? You know ... that I'm your best friend?

AVA
Of course you are!

The two walk off arm in arm.

Suddenly FENNE stops.

FENNE
When I said I've kissed Felix, you know I was just trying to distract the witch don't you?
